Malaysia's very own super fibre drink

Published on: Saturday, September 29, 2012

A DIETARY fibre supplement for a complete colon management system is now at your doorstep.

A comprehensive healthy fibre drink, ToxOut is a concoction of mixed vegetables and fruits powder together with other ingredients like apple pectin, oligosaccharides, oil palm fibre, spirulina, oat bran powder, wheat powder and lemon powder.

It has Halal certification and is registered with the Ministry of Health, Malaysia.

The powder in a satchet is mixed with 180ml of plain water in a shaker and shaken well before drinking.

Dubbed lifestyle super fibre, ToxOut is manufactured by a factory in Kuala Lumpur under a contract in rigid adherence to the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

For now, at least two containers are produced each month to meet the domestic demand and for export.

Each 20-foot long container has the capacity to accommodate 15,000 boxes.

Each box contains 15 satchets.

This award-winning health drink has penetrated the Sabah market with the appointment of Malpap Sdn Bhd as the sole distributor for Sabah, Negara Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines.

The appointment was made by Miracle Asia Sdn Bhd, which holds the patent for the ToxOut formula and the exclusive right to distribute this health product.

Chairman of Miracle Asia Sdn Bhd, Dato' Yii Ching Siew, 70, believes in sharing, prompting him to appoint Malpap because its Chairman, Datuk Clement Yeh Chang is a lifetime friend.

"Sabah is my home. I have lived here for 30 years and Clement is an old friend of mine.

"As a Malaysian, I am proud to introduce ToxOut to the market.

I feel good after taking this super fibre drink, and I want others to enjoy it too. Basically, it cleanses the bowel tract, helps prevent constipation, enhances immune power and thus reduces the risk of disease.

"I am happy if people out there are healthy. I am not out to make money.

I want to contribute to people's general well-being. Many of my friends have died of colon cancer," he said after signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Malpap for the sole distributorship.

Yii, a one-time magician who spent 45 years of his prime life in the timber business, assured that all the ingredients used in manufacturing ToxOut are natural. "No chemicals, no food colouring or preservatives are added."

In the case of spirulina, it is not cultivated by man but procured from Myanmar where it grows naturally on mountains in a highland region characterised by good quality air as a result of non-pollution in that area.

Asked on the types of vegetables used in preparing ToxOut, multi-lingual Yii, who jealously guards the recipe for ToxOut, replied : "Itu rahsia (That is a secret).

"Taking 30g dietary fibre per day is almost equivalent to consuming two to three kilos of fruits and vegetables. How many of us will actually take two to three kilos of fruits and vegetables per day?

Not likely."

As a dietary fibre, Apple Pectin is helpful in maintaining good digestive health, according to researchers.

It has been shown to increase the excretion of lipids, cholesterol and bile acids, and reduce serum cholesterol levels. Pectins operate by binding with bile acids, thereby decreasing cholesterol and fat absorption.

Spirulina has been described as the world's healthiest food rich in Beta Carotene and Phytonutrients.

Researchers say this tiny aquatic plant offers 60pc all-vegetable protein, essential vitamins and phytonutrients.

It is the most powerful combination of nutrients ever known in any grain, herb or food.

Oligosaccharides are derived from natural plants. Based on research, these prebiotics are food ingredients that enhance the production of probiotics in the digestive tract, especially good bacteria known as Bifidobacteria.

Inulin (a non-digestible fibre) is a prebiotic that helps promote the growth of these good bacteria in the colon. (The large intestine plays host to 100 trillion bacteria, both good and bad).

Inulin serves as food for these organisms. As a soluble fibre, inulin helps maintain normal bowel function, and combining with insoluble fibre, decreases constipation, lowers cholesterol and triglycerides, and helps normalise blood sugar levels.

Malaysia being one of the largest producers of oil palm in the world, millions of dollars have been spent on oil palm research, according to Yii.

"Oil palm fibre has been found to be one of the best ingredients in ToxOut.

Dietary fibre is extracted from fibre-enriched oil palm trunk (OPT), which contains more than 70pc of dietary fibre.

"Lignin is a component of fibre which is invaluable for its binding ability - binding cholesterol, bile salts, fats, carbohydrates and toxins," he explained.

Quoting health experts, Yii said a sufficient intake of OPT fibre, which is rich in lignin, has been proven to help reduce the risk of infectious agents and cancer.

"In addition, it helps to improve bowel function, stabilises blood pressure and helps to prevent diabetes, coronary heart disease and stroke," he said, adding it plays a role in weight control.

According to the proprietor of Miracle Asia, ToxOut is an extremely popular drink in Hong Kong with 96pc of consumers making repeat purchases.

"Based on feedback, they have come back to ask for more because of its health benefits," said the grandfather of 12.

Currently, ToxOut is also exported via Port Klang to agents in destinations like Macau, New York, London, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. "At the moment, we are scouting about for agents in Japan, Korea and South Africa."

To date (2012), about 4,000 shops (including the more than 1,000 outlets in Hong Kong and Macau) are dealing in the product. Yii's business plan indicates his determination to expand extensively.

"My forecast is that there will be some 30,000 shops selling ToxOut, mainly in Asia, in three years' time.

Saya yakin (I am confident) I can achieve my target with the extra effort put in by my agents," he enthused.

For his contribution, Yii received a prestigious award for The Most Popular Intestinal Health Brand, presented by the Health Care Federation of Hong Kong recently.
